The Emir of Dutse in Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammadu Nuhu Sanusi has called on the general public to abide by simple hygiene so as to prevent themselves from avoidable infection of communicable diseases.
The monarch made this call while delivering his Sallah message. He said everyone had a role to play in promoting healthy environments and controlling the communicable diseases like cholera and other related diseases.
Dr. Sunusi noted that even though government is responsible for ensuring the provision of healthy environment as well as providing health care facilities for the public, government effort can not yield any fruitful result with out support from the general public.
"Although government is doing its best to provide health facilities and drugs, communicable diseases cannot be stopped from spreading unless people take simple preventable measures such as washing their hands before and after eating, washing their hands with soap and water after going to toilet and so on".
He added that communities must complement government's efforts by ensuring safety of the food they eat, the purity of the water they drink and cleanliness of their environments.
Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi urged the general public to support the government in its efforts towards the provision of healthy environment, saying the issue of health is responsibility for all, hence, the need to put all hands on deck to achieve the desired objective.
Earlier before the emir's Sallah message, the chief imam of Dutse, Sheikh Bashir Birnin-Kudu, in his Eid-Kabir sermon, urged the Muslim Ummah to enroll their children in both Islamic and western schools, saying education is the bedrock of good future.
He revealed that Islam had laid a great emphasis on education, citing the Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) tradition which says, "Seeking for knowledge is compulsory upon every Muslim male and female".
Sheikh Bashir commended the present administration of Governor Sule Lamido for its immense contributions to the education sector, adding that any responsible government that wants to excel must ensure good educatioal system to its people.
