In the spirit of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Dimeji Bankole, has charged muslim faithful to concentrate on their steadfastness to God rather than gaining pleasures of this world and losing Aljannah.

This is just as the House of Representatives yesterday adjourned plenary till December 8 for the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.

Bankole, in a Sallah message through his special adviser on Media, Mr Ebomhiana Musa, said that the occasion which does not only signify joy and celebration but also the deep love of Almighty Allah for humanity should be used as an occasion to reflect deeply on his love and a period to share and remember the less privileged in the society.

He noted that only those who trust Allah would receive his favour, stressing that, "all of us who are muslim faithful should realise that we are like birds of passage here on earth and as such, seeking to amass all the wealth without the fear and love of Allah will deprive us of eternal life".

The lawmaker urged elected officials and public office holders to have the fear of Allah, adding that it is by doing so that they will serve the people in truth and faith.

He advised Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and learn to live in harmony with one another despite differences in political and ethno-religious backgrounds and work for the ideals which the great prophet represents.

The speaker further added that the celebration is an event of significant magnitude given the selfless service rendered to humanity by the great prophet in his lifetime, adding that Nigerians should emulate this virtue and be selfless in whatever they do by putting the nation first.

Bankole said he is optimistic of a future that is light and beautiful for the country as it is only through peaceful co-existence and love for one another that we can make the brightness a reality.
