The Conference Of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, has congratulated Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, following his reelection on Saturday as the governor of Anambra State, just as it reminded the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that power belongs to God.
Secretary General of CNPP, Chief Willy Ezeugwu, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, commended Anambra people for coming out en masse to elect their choice of governor, saying with the victory of Peter Obi of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA), the era of money bag politics and imposition was over.
The CNPP scribe said the body was happy with the results declared, saying having followed the performance and transparency that the governor has brought to bare on the governance of Anambra State, it was not surprised that he was returned as governor.
‘‘The results declared yesterday has shown that with the right machinery on ground, the people’s choice and will shall always prevail. What was declared is a true reflection of the situation on ground and the choice of Anambra people as it had been long in coming’’, the scribe said.
The scribe further said given Peter Obi’s antecedents and exemplary conduct in office, which has seen the lives of the people of the state transformed in virtually all sectors of the economy including education, health, roads construction as covered by the ANIDS programme of the government, there shall be higher prospects for the greater development and upliftment of the citizenry in Anambra State.
The CNPP chided the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP , and its candidate for the election, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, saying it should be clear to them where power lies as imposition of candidates and their continued bastardisation of the polity is nearing an end as the electorate are becoming aware of their powers and obligation.
"For the PDP who thought they could impose a governor for Anambra State, they should now realize that the powers of the electorate is supreme, moreso that the era of money bag politics in the country is fast fading and giving way to electoral democracy and not the near strangulation of the polity nor the high handedness with which it has continued to handle electoral issues and governance in the country".
